Antique Apples
October 5th, 2002
Melinda Pope, Master Gardener
The Saturday Morning Gardener
Michigan State University

"Join us for a fascinating look back in time as we learn more about the apples that our ancestors treasured. So many have been lost because they are not high-yielding as newer cultivars are, but their flavors are too good to lose. Find out why some orchards and national organizations have orchard 'banks' to preserve these heritage apples. Tasting is a part of the class! Taught by Malinda Pope, Master Gardener"
As part of the Saturday Morning Gardener series of classes, sponsored by the MSU Friends of the Gardens and the Michigan State University Horticulutre Department, Master Gardener and apple enthusiast Melinda Pope will be giving a class about antique apples. The class will be held Saturday morning, October 5th at 9 a.m., and will include a tasting of an assortment of historical varieties.
