Our goal is to produce high quality, flavourful apples for specialty markets that appreciate good eating apples. We grow a small test orchard of new cultivars, some of which have not yet been named by their breeders. Look for numbered selections like 9P-15-30 to try a new flavour of apples. Last year, we added a few more trees to our test orchard: Redcort and Northern Spy on dwarf rootstock to try in our warm climate.

Howes Orchards
Howes Orchards is a family owned and operated commercial apple farm located in the township of North Marysburgh in Prince Edward County in eastern Ontario. This farm has been producing apples since 1850. For over 20 years we have carefully tended these orchards taking full advantage of the area's unique climate and soil conditions to produce apples of unequalled flavour and quality. Sunny autumn days and cool fall nights combine with onshore breezes to concentrate the exceptional qualities and varietal flavours of the late harvest apples. The moderating effect of Lake Ontario on the local micro-climate, coincides with well-drained, nutrient-rich soil providing ideal conditions for growing high quality fruit. Many types of apples are grown in this area, and include varieties that could not stand the harsher winter climate just 20 miles further north. visit Howes Orchards website
