Deciduous Fruit Growing in Asia and Australia
The United Nations recently commissioned a survey of deciduous fruit growing in various Asian countries. These notes from that survey give a useful overview of apple growing in various countries.

Here's to thee, old apple-tree,
Whence thou mayst bud,
and whence thou mayst blow,
And whence thou mayst bear apples enow!
Hats-full! caps-full!
Bushel, bushel, sacks-full!
And my pockets full, too! Hurra!

About Orchard Trail
Visiting working orchards can be an exciting adventure. Many apple lovers use this guide to plan their vacations, and some retirees have told us that they spend months following the seasons from orchard to orchard, meeting the growers and scouting out unusual and gourmet fruit varieties that can't be found in the supermarket. Apple growing is an ancient art steeped in history and romance. When you visit and buy directly from the grower you not only have the opportunity to enjoy the best produce, you are helping to preserve the important legacy of fruit culture for future generations to enjoy.

Area Codes: Telephone area codes are changing faster than we can update these listings. Call directory service if you get a recording and ask them for the new area code for the town you are trying to reach. Let us know if you discover an incorrect area code.

Orchard closings: Farmers in the US are under tremendous pressure and many are closing and going out of business, sometimes suddenly.

Weather: Crop yields are subject to weather conditions, and some years partial or total crop losses can occur.
