North Carolina Apple Orchards
Ah, the combination of clear Blue Ridge mountain air, friendly folk, and crisp fresh apples is enough to get us northerners daydreaming about a little road trip.
North Carolina's apple industry is big enough to rank seventh nationally, yet small enough to have a friendly, down-home ambience. Most of the apples are grown at elevation and the orchards are concentrated in a relatively small area along the Blue Ridge parkway and I-40 between Winston-Salem and the Asheville area.
The first page lists orchards north of Hickory. Henderson county south of Asheville has so many orchards that we have given it the second page to itself. The third page has the orchards east and north of Asheville, along the Blue ridge. The fourth page is the southern tier of counties between Charlotte and Henderson county. The handful of orchards in the center of the state are listed below.
