Directions: The middle of the Santa Ynez Valley. From Hy 154 take the Ballard turnoff and follow Baseline Avenue three miles.
>From Solvang going toward Santa Ynez, turn left on Refugio and Left again on Baseline Avenue for one half mile.
Description: Featured as a true miniature farm. Drive down the driveway past the Miniature Donkeys, Kinder Goats, Chickens, and Turkeys that reside along side a very pretty orchard and Mom and Pop Apple stand. There is plenty of parking and room for RVs. Picnic tables sit under the trees for those that like to take a little time. Families are treated with special care. Ballard Apple Farm features many types of apples throughout the season with new varieties being planted yearly. Antique varieties from all over the world are coming on line in 2005.

Donna's Secret Sour Cream Apple Pie

Batter:
Mix together 2 tbs flour, 1/8 tsp salt, 3/4 cup sugar. Add 1 egg, 1 cup sour cream, 1 1/2 tsp vanilla, 1/2 tsp nutmeg. Beat to form batter.
Place 2 cups peeled and diced apples into unbaked pastry shell. Cover with batter. Bake at 400º for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350º and bake for another 30 minutes. Remove pie from oven and add topping.
Topping:
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup flour
1/4 cup butter
1 tsp cinnamon
Return to 400º oven for 10 minutes to brown.
